Free Sample Cap: F Butter

Purchasing a KAM color card is a quick and handy way to see all 60 basic KAM snap colors. However, the color cards don't include our ever-increasing line of custom colors. So every few weeks, we'll offer a free sample cap in one of our custom colors. Collect them all! You can even make your own color card by attaching each cap onto an index card or piece of cardboard, using a socket on the other side to hold it in place--just don't forget to label each color.

We will rotate the colors offered, so if you miss any, just wait until they come around again. Please note that supply is limited, so if we should run out after you've placed your order, we will substitute with another sample color.

New Size 16 Long Prongs

Here's a refresher on the measurements for each size of plastic snap:

Our size 16 regular caps have a prong length of 4.2mm. We previously offered long prong #16 caps with a 6.2mm length. For those who liked to use #16 snaps but found the regular too short and the long too long, we now carry long prongs in 5.2mm (so in the middle) in B3 white and B22 ivory. These are closer in length to the regular size 20 snaps.

Note about New Dies for Pliers

This post pertains to pliers that have "GF" embossed on them only. They do not apply to our "HG" pliers, which is what we are currently selling. ("GF" pliers are no longer available in our store.)

When you are using these replacement plier dies in conjunction with the pliers that have "GF" embossed on them, the white rubber head is intended to be used only for size 14 regular snaps. They are too high and do not provide enough clearance for caps with taller prongs than the size 14 regular. You will need to continue to use your shorter, old-style black pressing head for other sizes. However, you can slice a bit off the top of the white rubber head to make it shorter if you would like to use it for other snap sizes.

Since the replacement cap dies are also taller, there will be less clearance for the cap and your fabric. If you've been using your "GF" pliers for a while, this smaller clearance may take some time getting used to.

If you're using long prong caps, then you'll need to go back to using the shorter, old-style cap die in order to have enough clearance.
